TimeVallée network extends to over 50 doors

Richemont's multibrand TimeVallée concept has opened its first Egyptian door in Cairo's Downtown Katameya district, pushing the network past 50 locations worldwide. The 2,500-square-foot showroom, run by local conglomerate Nile Projects, carries Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Panerai in a market where Richemont maisons have been absent and even Rolex has only two doors. The move plants a Richemont flag in one of luxury's last untapped territories, betting on Egyptian appetite before rivals like Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet arrive.

EDITOR’S VIEW: Footfall is falling, but intent isn’t. What’s your Golden Quarter strategy?

WatchPro's editor lays out the Golden Quarter challenge: UK footfall fell 1.7% year on year in August (high streets down 3.1%), and US holiday spending topped $1 trillion for the first time only because prices rose, with unit sales and store visits falling three months running. The watch story is bifurcated: Swiss exports were essentially flat over H1 2026 (down 0.7%) but June jumped 11.2%, with the sharpest growth above CHF 3,000, so the counsel to retailers is to court booked-in, high-intent buyers rather than wait on dwindling walk-in trade.</parameter> <parameter name="categories">[]

Rolex Daytona Paul Newman Lemon appears with $1 million reserve

Collector, author and Phillips consultant Pucci Papaleo is consigning 16 significant Rolex chronographs to the Geneva Watch Auction: XXIV, headlined by a possibly unique 14ct gold Daytona ref. 6264 "Paul Newman Lemon" and a c.1940 ref. 3525 "Bariletto," Rolex's first Oyster-cased chronograph (estimate CHF 250,000-500,000). Papaleo's decades of scholarship and photography helped build the Daytona's collecting mythology, so his name on the provenance is as much the draw as the metal, which is exactly the kind of pedigree that pushes Lemon-dial reserves toward the million-dollar mark.

Sub Seconds: Diving With The Doxa SUB 200 T-Graph II

aBlogtoWatch dove Florida's Gulf with the Doxa SUB 200 T-Graph II, a modern revival of the small-run 1969 chronograph, and came away sold: they praise the 42mm case (200m WR, 44.5mm lug-to-lug, 14.6mm thick, non-screw-down pushers not rated for underwater use) and the Sharkhunter's vintage "Whiteshark" handset, while faulting the bulky modern beads-of-rice clasp that popped open when sand got in it. Their verdict lands on value: the reviewer calls the $4,250 (rubber) / $4,290 (bracelet) price fair given years of escalating vintage T-Graph prices, and says "put me down for a Professional." The trade takeaway is a legacy dive-chrono finally in standard production at a price aBlogtoWatch deems justifiable.

Back to Basics for Panerai, with the new Luminor 42 Collection (Incl. Video)

Monochrome Watches reviews Panerai's new Luminor 42 collection (PAM01710, PAM01711, PAM01714), a "back to the roots" revival of the 1993 Ref. 5218-201/A now shrunk to 42mm, and finds it "every bit a Luminor: simple, clean, ultra-robust." They concede the smaller size loses "a bit of a stout, masculine demeanour" but call it a fitting answer to the trend for smaller watches, with the black and green versions at EUR 6,500 and the DLC blue at EUR 7,500, all permanent collection. The trade takeaway: Panerai is chasing the downsizing wave with a 500m-rated, in-house ValFleurier PAM.980 diver aimed squarely at nostalgia buyers.

Panerai Honors The Pre-Vendome Luminor With A Smaller 42mm Offering

Panerai has revived the pre-Vendome Luminor in a new, smaller 42mm by 13.8mm case (refs. PAM01710, PAM01711, PAM01714), with matte black, green, or blue dials, beige Super-LumiNova, 500m water resistance, and a solid caseback. The trio runs on the automatic P.980 caliber (72-hour reserve) and is priced $6,700 to $7,700, roughly $2,000 to $3,000 below last year's 44mm versions, available now and not limited. The downsizing and sharper pricing read as Panerai answering long-running complaints that it was too big and too expensive, nudging closer to Tudor territory.

Channeling My Inner Explorer With The Brand-New Héron Continental

Héron, the young Montreal-based brand, has launched the Continental, a trio of vintage-inspired sports watches in a 37 x 43 x 8.5mm hardened steel case (11mm with the domed sapphire), 100m water resistance, running the Miyota 9039 and fitted with a beads-of-rice bracelet with toolless micro-adjust. The three sandwich-dial versions (sunray blue, sunray black, lacquered cream) each sell for US$630. At that price it's a direct play for the entry-level Explorer-alternative crowd, where value-focused microbrands are increasingly crowding in.

Introducing – The Panerai Luminor Tourbillon GMT Titanio PAM01784

Monochrome Watches

The Panerai Luminor Tourbillon GMT Titanio PAM01784

Panerai has unveiled the Luminor Tourbillon GMT Titanio PAM01784, a 47mm Grade 5 titanium piece (about 105 grams) powered by the hand-wound, skeletonised P.2005/T with its patented horizontal tourbillon rotating once every 30 seconds, three series-connected barrels for a 144-hour power reserve, and a true GMT with dial-side power reserve. The blue-treated movement forms the dial itself, with 100m water resistance, a blue alligator strap plus an included rubber strap, priced at EUR 160,000 and available from December 2026. This is Panerai flexing its haute-horlogerie credentials at the very top of the range, the deliberate counterweight to the entry-level Luminor 42 launched the same day.

Take A Deep Dive Into Tutima Glashütte’s Watchmaking History And Its Three Newest Patria Dress Watches

Tutima Glashütte, now restructured as Tutima Glashütte GmbH & Co. KG under new CEO Matthias Stotz (formerly of Junghans), has added three dress watches to its Patria line: a light-blue-dial titanium model (ref. 6612-11) and a black-dial two-hand titanium variant (ref. 6612-21), both 41mm, powered by the in-house hand-wound caliber Tutima 617 (21.6kbph, 65-hour reserve) and priced at €8,600 ($11,000). The third is a 43mm 18k rose-gold edition with either a silver-plated (ref. 6620-21) or anthracite (ref. 6600-23) dial, each limited to nine pieces (9+9 total, nodding to Tutima's 99-year history) and fitted with the new manufacture caliber Tutima 926. The leadership handoff, backed by the Delecate family, is the commercial subtext here: an independent Glashütte name betting its next chapter on a proven turnaround operator.
